Good, good dogs!!

Note: The drop-in weekly puppy play group is on Saturdays

Heads-up! My favorite dog show of the year is upon us. If you are interested in seeing 136 different dog breeds and being able to talk to their breeders and owners, this is the show for you! January 28th & 29th are the dates of the Golden Gate Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show at the Cow Palace It is one of only 6 bench shows in the United States. In an unbenched show, dogs may (and do) leave when they are done showing in the ring. In a bench show, all of the entered dogs stay on assigned benches during all the show days unless they are showing, being groomed or on a potty break.

What's new in Redwood City

Attention!! Agility, Treibball and Flyball workshops to be scheduled soon. Please check back on Monday, January 30th for finalized dates!.

Please note: Due to my current case load and accompanying time commitments, only puppy play group and private training are being offered until January. Additionally, working with new clients will be limited to puppy and training issues. If you are seeking help for a dog that has exhibited aggressive or compulsive behavior or has separation anxiety, please email me and I will refer you to other training help. Also, http://www.aspcabehavior.org/ is an excellent resource for helping understand and resolve behavior problems.

For dog class and puppy class descriptions and prerequisites (all classes have prerequisites), go to the Dog Training Class page or for short classes and workshops, check the class details on this page.

* For Puppy 1 and the Training with Games workshop, sharing your dog's pad is encouraged, so bring a pad large enough for the 2 (or more) of you.
For the K9 Nosework and Treibball Workshops, there is less hands on, so bringing a camp chair and pad is fine. If you have no chair, I will have a few extra. There are a lot of bad backs out there, so please, whatever you are signed up for, if you need to sit on a chair, bring one or let me know and I will get you one.

** Lisa Carlson, a certified trainer whose speciality is puppies will be the primary instructor for this class.

Puppy Play Group in Redwood City

Puppy play group is held Saturdays 10 AM - 11 AM at Planet Pooch, 866 Kaynyne St. Redwood City (this location is only a couple of minutes off Hwy 101 and actually a preferred location for many of my Los Altos and Palo Alto students).

$10 drop in fee.

Puppies must start in play group BEFORE the age of 16 weeks.

Proof of vaccinations is required the first visit.

Why puppies should start socialization as soon as possible: AVSAB Position Statement on Puppy Socialization http://www.avsabonline.org/avsabonline/images/stories/Position_Statements/puppy%20socialization.pdf

Adolescent Play is on hold, BUT, puppies that start in play group before the age of 4 months, may continue in puppy play group as long as they enjoy it and maintain excellent play skills. Puppy dogs are segregated into group as needed.

Play group is not for adolescent bullies. Again, please note that puppies need to start in play group before the age of 16 weeks in order to continue attending play group

In case of cancelation, be sure to check this page the evening before the scheduled play group!
